On Saturday, Kronos, a popular provider of payroll and time sheet software, said it underwent a massive ransomware attack that has disabled it’s systems, and left many of it’s clients without a means to properly chart their employees time and pay them accordingly.
The company posted on it’s site that it’s “working with leading cyber-security experts to assess and resolve the situation.” However the company did advise that it could be weeks before a solution is fully implemented. The company said “While we are working diligently, our Kronos Private Cloud solutions are currently unavailable. Given that it may take up to several weeks to restore system availability, we strongly recommend that you evaluate and implement alternative business continuity protocols related to the affected UKG solutions.”
This leaves many of the companies clients now struggling to implement an alternative solution so their employees receive their pay.
Many suspect that the attack was due to the Log4Shell vulnerability, which the U.S. government recently deemed a “significant threat.” However there’s no confirmation at this time.
It’s worth investing in system restore software, that can restore a machine back to a state that’s free of any infections. This can be an efficient way to remove any Malware or Ransomware within seconds.
