Horizon DataSys showcased the newest version of their Drive Vaccine software at Educause 2013 in Anaheim, CA. Educause is an annual conference directed at IT professionals in the educational field.
Drive Vaccine v10.2, the latest release of the company’s increasingly popular restore-on-reboot technology can quickly restore PCs back to a predefined “baseline.” Drive Vaccine already offers the industry’s most robust recovery capability, quickly undoing any changes that public users may make. It simplifies PC management by keeping workstations optimally and consistently configured regardless of what users may do, such as deleting files, accidentally installing viruses, etc.
The Horizon DataSys booth was a big draw for IT professionals at Educause 2013 held October 15-17th. The Horizon DataSys staff challenged IT professionals to crash a typical PC that had Drive Vaccine installed. Drive Vaccine succeeded in continually returning the PC back to its baseline and subsequent computer user would then begin with a “clean slate.” The intent of the contest was to illustrate that with Drive Vaccine installed on a PC will become crash-proof.
Drive Vaccine is already the industry standard in nonrestrictive disk protection which with the fastest and most efficient reboot-to-restore program available today. With Drive Vaccine v10.2 recent enhancements to this already robust restoration and management system now include support for the new Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) standard and the GUID Partition Table (GPT) scheme that are becoming increasingly common on today’s larger harddrives, multiple harddrive support, and built-in compatibility for Microsoft Surface Tablets. Drive Vaccine is quickly becoming the go-to alternative to Microsoft’s discontinued SteadyState utility.
“Crash proofing public access PCs is now a reality!” Claims Lyle Patel, President of Horizon DataSys “if you are an educational institution that had relied on SteadyState, we would welcome you to check out the advanced features of Drive Vaccine or even our freeware SteadyState replacement, Reboot Restore Rx.”
“The sort of issues we heard from Educause attendees at IT departments that still rely on imaging or other traditional solutions to reset their PCs,” explains Kritesh Dewan, Senior Account Manager “is that students regularly leave behind all sorts garbage and inadvertent changes that make the machines messed up for other users. They may also leave sensitive information behind. Drive Vaccine is a solution that will automatically return the system on a bit-for-bit basis back to the IT-administrator’s desired configuration.”
